CVS Health Charity Classic

CVS Health Charity Classic

CVS Health Charity Classic
Barrington, Rhode Island
Winners: Brooke M. Henderson, Keegan Bradley, Billy Andrade

They’ll be renaming it soon — the Keegan Bradley Member-Guest. But for the 2019 edition, it would remain the CVS Health Charity Classic, the one-day golf exam in June at the Rhode Island Country Club for the benefit of Southern New England Charities. New year, old story: Native sons Keegan Bradley, of the PGA Tour, and Billy Andrade, of the Champions Tour, and the LPGA Tour’s Brooke M. Henderson combined for a 61-66–127, 15 under, to win by one in the best-two-balls-of-three event.

If the cast seemed familiar, it’s because they won in 2018 and 2017. And when the CVS was a two-player event, Bradley teamed with Jon Curran to win it in 2015 and 2016. And thus Bradley set the PGA Tour record of winning the same event five consecutive times. This No. 5 was a trip in the zone. “When you’re in that zone,” Andrade said, “you don’t want to get out of it.”

Henderson made six birdies on the front nine, Andrade four and Bradley chipped in for two. Bradley birdied the par-three 10th, and he and Andrade both birdied the par-five 11th, getting to 14 under. Andrade’s birdie at 13 put them 15 under. They had just one threat. Kevin Kisner, Lexi Thompson and Darren Clarke got to 13 under through the 15th, but got just one more birdie, Thompson’s at the 17th. They finished a stroke behind. Bradley and Andrade easily parred the 18th to lock up win number three. What was their secret? “We’re just a good team,” Bradley said. “We have fun, and it’s relaxing and easy to shoot low.”
